Georgia’s IIBEC Chapter will present IIBEC’s Professional Building Consulting on February 11 and 12, 2020. The course will be held 8:30 to 5:30 on both days at Maggiano’s Little Italy at Perimeter Mall

Program Cost: $525 (IIBEC Members) / $675 (Non-IIBEC Members)
This two-day course, which qualifies for 16 AIA LU/HSW credits / 16 IIBEC CEHs, is a classroom extension of IIBEC’s Manual of Practice. It provides an overview of consultant roles that are unique to the roofing, exterior walls, and waterproofing industry. The course also identifies the consultant practices that are common to these three broad disciplines. The course examines building enclosure consultants and discusses what they do and how they do it and is a recommended foundation course for becoming more specialized.
For out-of-town attendees, Maggiano’s Little Italy at Perimeter Mall is very close-by to multiple hotels and is reachable from the Atlanta Airport by Public Rail (MARTA) and a short Uber or other transportation service

The course will be taught by Paul Buccellato, AIA, FASTM, FRCI, CSI, Pat Downey, FRCI, RRC, CCA and Chris Dawkins, P.E., whose brief bio sketches are provided below.
Pat Downey, F-IIBEC, RRC, CCA is president of Merik, Inc., an Atlanta, GA Building Enclosure Consulting firm specializing in resolving water infiltration problems through roof, wall fenestrations and waterproofing systems. Pat has over 30 years’ experience in the construction industry, including product development and management of two material manufacturing companies. He is a Fellow and Past President of IIBEC, Past President of Atlanta’s CSI Chapter and the founding President of the Georgia Chapter Roof Consultants Institute (now IIBEC). Pat was awarded the 1998 “Advancement of Construction Technology Award”, at CSI’s National Convention for his initiatives in Georgia dealing with building code implementation of cool roofing and was recently recognized as IIBEC’s 2017 International Teacher of the Year. |
Chris Dawkins, P.E. is president of Beech Consulting, Inc. (BCI), and presently serves as a Senior Building Consultant and Forensics Engineer with BCI and its partner firm, Engineered Solutions International, LLC. Chris has more than 35 years’ experience in building construction and civil engineering disciplines. His professional practice is focused on building enclosure (roofs, wall claddings and components) assessment and forensics investigations of buildings or site systems construction. He has also practiced in facilities master planning; urban areas civil engineering design; and construction phase services for new buildings and renovations to existing buildings; site grading and paving operations and urban streetscape projects. He has practiced as a building consultant and consulting engineer since 1993, after serving in several assignments during 12 years with the U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps. Chris is Past President of Georgia’s IIBEC Chapter and is presently serving as IIBEC’s Region II Director.
