October 4, 2021: 4th Annual IIBEC New England Golf Tournament
In your opinion, what has been the most successful event that your chapter has hosted within the past three years?
Our Annual Golf Tournament is one of our chapter’s most successful events. Though merely calling it a golf tournament is a gross understatement. The day is built around a round of golf, but also includes a helicopter ball drop, an air canon shot at one golf hole, a reception with a comedian, DJ, and silent auction, and this year we have also added a corn hole tournament. In addition to being one of our most fun events of the year, the tournament provides the majority of our annual fundraising that allows us to donate to the RCI-IIBEC Foundation, student scholarships, and various charities including The Jimmy Fund, Make-A-Wish, Project Hope Boston, Hearth, and The Angel Fund for ALS Research.
Does your chapter provide or support any scholarships for students? If so, how does one apply?
We provide scholarships for Massasoit Community College Architectural Technology students selected through an annual essay contest.
If you were to give a piece of advice to the next generation of consultants, what would it be and why?
The best advice we can give to young consultants is to get involved in industry groups as soon as possible. It is a great way to increase your technical knowledge through presentations and your professional network through other chapter events.
That said, for those who would like to join or become more involved in the chapter, the IIBEC New England Chapter is always looking for new board members and committee chairs!
