IIBEC’s most prestigious award. “Renamed for its first recipient Joe F. Hale in 2022, the Lifetime Achievement Award was presented for the first time in 2011 and is awarded to those individuals who have provided a lifetime of extraordinary service and contributions to the success of the International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants.”
In 1995, IIBEC lost one of its most popular and dedicated members, past president Richard M. “Dick” Horowitz, RRC, F-IIBEC. Horowitz was a driving force behind IIBEC’s RRC exam and its technical journal, IIBEC Interface. In 1996, IIBEC named an award for the best technical article published in IIBEC Interface within the previous year.
Awarded to an individual under 40 or within the first 10 years of their career who has shown exceptional leadership, professionalism, and/or industry contribution in their career in the profession of building enclosure consulting.
The final determination for this award is decided upon by the IIBEC Emerging Professionals Committee.
Formerly named the Outstanding Educator Award, in 2020, IIBEC renamed this prestigious award in memory of longtime IIBEC Education Committee Chair Joshua J. Summers, REWC, SE, PE. This award is presented to IIBEC members in recognition for exemplary service to IIBEC education (presentation and/or development) on an institutional and/or chapter level.
The William C. Correll Award honors IIBEC pioneer and first executive director, William Correll Sr., F-IIBEC, AIA. Revised in 2023, it is presented to an IIBEC staff member who has demonstrated a high degree of professionalism, leadership, ethics, and unselfish dedication, contributing significantly to the growth and recognition of IIBEC.
In 1994, the IIBEC Executive Committee established the Dr. Herbert Busching Award after the late Clemson University professor and engineer. Busching was a dedicated early member of IIBEC and the first chairman of the IIBEC Board of Regents. It is awarded to individuals who have contributed to the research, standards, and education of the roofing, waterproofing, and/or exterior wall industries.

This educational program focuses on the evolution of methods and practices used to detect moisture intrusion, primarily in roofing and waterproofing. Different methods of testing will be discussed, and appropriate selection criteria, depending on each project’s conditions, will be explored. The need for stricter quality control will be discussed and suitable testing methods identified. Participants will be able to generate a forward-thinking strategy when performing field assessments of designing a new project. This webinar will focus on a review of the methods available and is not specific to any one leak detection system.
