IIBEC Southern Ontario Chapter hosted a celebration of IIBEC’s 40-year anniversary at the Sheraton Toronto Airport Hotel & Conference Centre on April 4, 2023. The event followed the ROOFTech Tradeshow and was an exceptional opportunity for our members to connect, celebrate, and reflect on how far we have come as an organization.
Adam Gotfraind, president of the Southern Ontario Chapter, started off the event with some thoughtful words on the chapter and was followed by Brian Pallasch, IIBEC’s executive vice president and chief executive office, who praised the importance of our local chapter and IIBEC’s important historic role in the building enclosure and roofing industries. In addition to the words of the IIBEC executive, the board presented a student bursary to Dagmawit Habtom.
The event included great food, beverages, and some delicious anniversary cake. It was attended by 87 members and nonmembers, including industry professionals, roofing contractors, and manufacturers’ reps.
Special thank you to the social committee and to Christine Kebezes and Betty Quan from Toronto Construction Association for putting this event together. We would also like to thank Pallasch as well as Arissa Cooper, IIBEC’s marketing manager, for making the trip to join us!
On Thursday March 30, 2023, IIBEC North Texas Chapter Vice President Gary Gilmore presented an “RRO Basics Workshop.” The presentation included information regarding the process of becoming an RRO, IIBEC’s requirements for the certification, and performance of the duties of an RRO. A brief review of many of the roof systems assemblies included in a RRO’s scope of responsibility was also discussed.
The event was hosted by IB Roofing Systems at its new headquarters in Grapevine, Texas. The event was well attended by nearly 40 people representing roofing manufacturers, roofing contractors, and consultant firms.
