The final day of the 2024 IIBEC International Convention and Trade Show included numerous education sessions, the Annual Meeting of the Members Luncheon, the Foundations’ Live Auction and Reception, and the President’s Annual Banquet.
A morning general session, “Design for Tornado Loads and the New ASCE 7-22,” was followed by an hourlong block of more educational content, including a panel discussion, “Unit Price Procurement: How IIBEC Is Advocating for Better Procurement Practices One Tender at a Time.”
The morning’s second block of education sessions ended ahead of the Annual Meeting of the Members Luncheon, during which IIBEC President Amy Peevey passed the pin to incoming president Robért Hinojosa. Joining Hinojosa on the IIBEC Executive Committee is Burt Carver as secretary/treasurer.
The change makes Peevey IIBEC’s immediate past president. Chris Dawkins, PE, is IIBEC’s new first vice president, and Jennifer Hogan, REWC, RRO, B.Arch.Sci., CET, LEED AP, Certified Passive House Consultant, is the new second vice president. Joining the IIBEC Executive Committee as its secretary-treasurer is Burt Carver, RRC, RRO.
Joining the IIBEC Board of Directors for 2023–2024 is Region 6 Director Jon Solland, RRC, RRO. Re-elected for a second term are Region 4 Director Jon Cannon, RRC, REWC, RRO, REWO, CDT, and Region 5 Director Julie McDonald, REWC, RRC, CIT. In her remarks, Peevey thanked Carver for his service to the board as Region VI director, and she also thanked Chris Giffin, whose term as immediate past president of IIBEC has now ended.
After two more blocks of education, the convention closed with the Foundations’ Live Auction and Reception, followed by the President’s Annual Banquet.
The 2025 IIBEC International Convention and Trade Show will be held March 6–9, 2025, in Orlando, Florida.
