The 2024 IIBEC/OBEC BES—the fall’s premier building enclosure industry event—wrapped October 1, 2024. Nearly 350 attendees were on hand to experience 21 education sessions, interact with 35 exhibitors, and network with like-minded colleagues.

The 2024 IIBEC/OBEC BES put the “I” in IIBEC’s name (the International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants) as Toronto, Ontario, hosted the event. Education highlights included, “The History of Roofing in One Building Since the 1970s—Actually!” presented by Jean-Guy Levaque, F–IIBEC, RRC, RRO, Arch Technologist, and a past president of IIBEC; “Decarbonizing Building Materials: Exploring the Embodied Carbon of Structure and Enclosure Systems,” presented by Sean Moore, SEBT, LEED AP BD+C; “Windows Installation Designs for Meeting Demanding Thermal Code Requirements,” presented by John Straube, PhD, PEng; and “Examining Methods for Preserving and Improving the Energy Performance of a Historic, Aluminum Framed Curtainwall System,” presented by David Wach, PEng.

Outside of the show, attendees had the opportunity to visit must-see Toronto attractions, such as the CN Tower, the Toronto-Dominion Centre, the Aga Khan Museum, and the Distillery District.

Attendees also attended an evening reception on September 29 and had the opportunity to eat breakfast with exhibitors on September 30 and October 1. Those same days included dessert with exhibitors.

Advanced Architectural Products, Building Enclosure, Carlisle Construction Materials, Johns Manville, Morin, the National Institute of Building Sciences, Polyglass, Roofing Contractor, Soprema, and Walls & Ceilings sponsored the 2024 IIBEC/OBEC BES.

IIBEC’s next major event, the 2025 IIBEC International Convention and Trade Show, will be held March 6–9, 2025, at the Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando, Florida.
