On Thursday, February 22, 2018, the MidSouth Chapter of RCI, Inc. had a roofing workshop. The purpose of the workshop was to provide the chapter membership with an educational opportunity to obtain much-needed continuing education hours, as well as to provide a time for networking. Mike Spach, the president of the MidSouth Chapter, had a vision of a workshop that would provide members with an educational opportunity that would include hands-on partial installation experience. This vision was realized through the help of a handful of roofing manufacturers and supply-chain vendors. The event included eight hands-on performance stations where attendees had the opportunity to construct different components of roofing systems. The event also included four hour-long educational presentations by some of the roofing industry’s top technical directors.
The workshop was a success, with a total attendance of more than 45 area consultants, architects, and contractors from all over the three-state region of Tennessee, Kentucky, and the upper portion of Alabama. The evaluations that were returned represented a positive experience for the attendees. The event was hosted by a local area roofing contractor, Empire Roofing; and thanks to the generous help of the vendors involved, many attendees left with a great education, partial installation experience, and even a door prize to remember the event.
This workshop was the first of several large-scale events being planned for this chapter this year. Hopefully they all will come out as well.
The chapter expresses their gratitude to all of those companies and vendors who made the 2018 Roofing Workshop possible:
