Celebrating Success: A Festive Reflection on Our Holiday Party
By Hugo Ramirez
As the year came to a close, the IIBEC Metro New York Chapter gathered together for our annual holiday party to not only revel in the joy of the season but also to commemorate the tremendous success we’ve achieved over the past 12 months. The festivities were a perfect blend of merriment, gratitude, and a shared sense of accomplishment that filled the air with warmth and cheer. The venue sparkled with holiday decorations, setting the stage for a night of celebration and camaraderie. Colleagues and friends mingled, laughter echoed, and the air buzzed with excitement as we reflected on the milestones and victories that defined our journey throughout the year.
Reflecting on Success
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the opportunity to reflect on the numerous achievements that marked a truly exceptional year for our team. From groundbreaking projects to surpassing targets, each success was a testament to the dedication and hard work of every individual who contributed to our collective triumph.
In the spirit of gratitude, our leadership team took the stage to express heartfelt thanks to the entire workforce for their unwavering commitment. Thoughtful words of appreciation were accompanied by personalized tokens of gratitude, a small gesture to recognize the hard work and dedication that paved the way for our shared accomplishments.
Our holiday party wasn’t just a festive occasion—it was a moment of reflection, gratitude, and shared joy. As we bid farewell to an outstanding year, we look forward to carrying this momentum into the next, confident in our ability to turn challenges into triumphs and opportunities into success.

On April 20, 2023, the West Michigan Branch hosted a joint educational seminar with the CSI Grand Rapids Chapter. The topic was “Air Barrier Rodeo,” and the event was held at the Grand Rapids Community College Center Applied Technology Center. This event is in addition to the three technical sessions provided by the Great Lakes Chapter locally in 2023.
The chapter continues to pursue opportunities to grow. These include continued strengthening of relationships with local professional organizations with similar interests such as the Greater Detroit BEC and Southeastern Michigan Roofing Contractors Association, as well as with local architecture and engineering schools. The IIBEC Great Lakes Chapter plans to attend Career Days at those schools as representatives of IIBEC, give presentations related to the building enclosure, and offer at least one scholarship to a local student in the field in hopes of increasing student participation in our chapter.
This year saw the “retirement” of two long-time GLC IIBEC board members, Rick Bresso and Jim Markiewicz. Both received the chapter’s Lifetime Achievement Award at our Holiday Banquet and Annual Membership Meeting held on December 7th. Combined, Bresso and Markiewicz have contributed over 25 years of their time volunteering on the board. Their contributions will be greatly missed. The chapter welcomes new board members for 2024, Julie Jones and Nick Baisden.
