
Josh Summers Dies Following Illness
Joshua J. Summers, REWC, SE, PE, Woodstock, IL, died January 8, 2020, aged 50, following an extended illness. He joined Building Technology Consultants, Inc. (BTC) in Arlington Heights, IL, in 2003 and was an equity partner of the firm since 2005. His partner, Kami Farahmandpour, stated, “His outstanding technical capabilities as an engineer, impeccable integrity, hard work, and calm demeanor helped guide BTC’s growth. …I feel privileged to have had him as my friend and partner.” A graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Summers received BS and MS degrees in civil engineering there. He was an active member of IIBEC, serving as the chair of the Education Committee for the last ten years and presenting at numerous industry events. In 2017, he was awarded the Outstanding Educator Award by IIBEC. He is survived by his wife Carla (Macrito) Summers, daughter Sarah, parents Sharon (McCutchan) and James Summers, brother Matt, and sister Danielle.
