Emily Lorenz was appointed to the newly formed Commercial Energy Code Consensus Committee. As IIBEC Senior Director of Technical Services, Lorenz will represent IIBEC members in developing the commercial provisions of the 2024 edition of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). The International Code Council Board of Directors voted in early 2021 to change the development process for the IECC to a standards-development model. The new committee has 45 members from 9 interest groups, and 1/3 of members are governmental regulators. A full list of appointments is available here.
To develop the 2024 IECC, the committee will consider code-change proposals submitted on the 2021 IECC through a public comment period. Code-change proposals can be submitted by the public online at iccsafe.org beginning in mid-July 2021 through October 12, 2021. For more information, please contact IIBEC Senior Director of Technical Services, Emily Lorenz at elorenz@iibec.org.
