Mentor/Mentee Application
Code of Conduct
Professional development is ongoing throughout an individual’s career.
Project Excel is a professional mentorship program intended to benefit both mentors and mentees at any stage in their career by building social capital in terms of networking, the sharing of professional resources, assisting with career development opportunities, and to establish beneficial long-term professional relationships within the building enclosure profession.
Project Excel – Eligibility
Mentors:
Must be an active member of IIBEC for at least 2 years;
Should participate in local chapter;
Must have significant experience, and be either employed in, or retired from the building enclosure industry;
Must have time available for a minimum of one hour each month to dedicate to the program for the duration of the mentorship period;
Must complete mentor application.
Mentees:
Must be an active member of IIBEC, this includes student memberships;
Must be employed or seeking employment in the building enclosure industry;
Must have time available for a minimum of one hour each month to dedicate to the program for the duration of the mentorship period;
Must complete mentee application.
Timeline of Mentorship Program:
November 1, 2024:
Mentee application portal opens
Mentor applications taken throughout the year
January 10, 2025
:
Mentee application period closes
January-February 2025:
IIBEC Emerging Professionals Committee reviews applications and begins pairing process
End of February-Beginning of March 2025:
Mentor/Mentee Pairings Announced
March – September 2025:
Mentor/Mentees expected to meet for at least one hour each month.
September 2025:
Program closes
October-November 2025:
Round-table virtual meetings to be scheduled to gain feedback and recommendations for following year
Where do you fit?
Is there an experience or age limit on being a mentor in Project Excel?
No. There is value in experience no matter what point in your career you’re in. A mentee may be looking for someone who has recently paved the road in establishing their career, or looking for someone who has a lifetime of experience to share.
Is there an experience or age limit to being a mentee in Project Excel?
No. Professional development begins as a student and might not end until it’s time to consider succession planning.
Can I be both a mentor and mentee?
Absolutely! You’re welcome to apply for both roles, just submit one of each application.
