The Registered Exterior Wall Observer (REWO®) Exam is now available at conveniently located computer-based testing centers throughout North America. The REWO designation is brand new at RCI and is expected to evolve as the preferred standard for exterior wall quality assurance professionals. These individuals monitor the construction process to ensure that exterior wall systems stay in compliance with approved construction drawings, specifications, and best-practice or warranty-stipulated installation procedures.
REWO® applications can be completed online: http://iibec.org/pro-registrations/registered-exterior-wall-observer-rewo/. A study guide is available via the website and hard copies of the application are available upon request.
Once an application has been submitted and approved, the applicant may register for the computer-based exam, which consists of 75 multiple-choice questions and is up to three hours in duration. In order to receive a passing score, the applicant must be thoroughly familiar with the basic methodology of quality assurance observation and have a broad knowledge of ethics, construction documents, observer responsibilities, field observations practices, exterior wall systems, and reporting.
