IIBEC has sent letters to school districts in North Carolina and South Carolina raising concerns regarding recent school roofing solicitations that relied on single-source products and that lacked independent design oversight. These practices can drive up costs, limit competition, increase risk, and impact public trust.
IIBEC continues to advocate for using independent, credentialed consultants with no financial ties to manufacturers and for specifying multiple material sources. These steps protect taxpayer funds, encourage innovation, and ensure high-quality, cost-effective outcomes for public projects.
