IIBEC Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice President Brian Pallasch and Senior Director of Technical Services Emily Lorenz attended the US Department of Energy (DOE) Better Building, Better Plants Summit May 17–19, 2022, in Crystal City, Virginia. Keynote speakers were US Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm and White House National Climate Advisor Gina McCarthy. Session speakers included a host of other government and private-sector individuals on energy efficiency opportunities, emerging technologies, and strategies in energy efficiency, decarbonization, and water and waste reduction. DOE also issued its annual better buildings progress report at the event, which has resulted in savings of more than $15 billion, 13.7 billion gallons of water, and 155 million tons of CO2 through its partner initiatives.
Pallasch and Lorenz also had the opportunity to meet other individuals and organizations whose interests touch on improving the built environment. They were joined by IIBEC Director of Government Relations John Boling in holding local meetings with William Allmond, president of the Adhesive and Sealant Council, and Andrea Rutledge, president and chief executive officer of the Construction Management Association of America.
