Thank you to everyone who donated on #GivingTuesday. With your help, we raised nearly $2,000 for The Choctaw Academy.
Watch this great video on the project:
RCI is kicking off an initiative to raise funding for restoration of The Choctaw Academy. It was the first federally funded, racially integrated, non-missionary, and non-military school for Native American boys in the U.S.—an institution that brought together students from 18 different tribes.
RCI is raising $400,000 for the reconstruction of the Academy’s last remaining structure. Just $150 from each member of RCI would raise the amount needed. We are working to make it as easy as possible for you and/or your company to take part, giving you the opportunity to play a role in preserving this tangible piece of American history.
If you donate through RCI’s Facebook page on Giving Tuesday, Facebook and PayPal will start matching donations at 8:00 a.m. ET (5:00 a.m. PT) on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. The matching offer will expire when $7 million in donations is reached or at 11:59 p.m. PT on November 27. Donations up to $250k per nonprofit and $20k per donor are eligible to be matched.
If you can’t donate this Tuesday, please consider doing so soon. Please visit the RCI, Inc. website at http://iibec.org/choctaw-academy to make your donation, while following the progress of the reconstruction with on-site pictures and information. We will also be recognizing our donors who have contributed significantly in a feed that will be listed on that page, as well as recognizing them in our industry emails and various communications.
As the RCI Foundation has joined in support of this project, please feel free to alternately visit the RCI Foundation U.S. page at http://www.rcifoundation.org/choctaw_academy_initiative.aspx to make your donation there.
Should your company have the ability to donate supplies in lieu of a monetary donation, please contact RCI, Inc. directly, and we’ll be more than happy to delve deeper into what is needed and when.
