We are thrilled to share that Mississippi House Bill 1730 has died in committee.
The bill would have required a minimum roof slope of 3:12 for all new public facilities funded with state or local government resources, effectively banning low-slope roof systems on public buildings.

Thanks to these coordinated efforts, the bill is effectively dead, having failed to pass out of the Senate Public Property Committee, preserving flexibility, safety, and integrity in public building design.
This victory demonstrates the power of collective advocacy and the importance of IIBEC members’ voices in protecting best practices for building enclosure projects. Together, we protected building safety, design flexibility, and taxpayer investment.
