Candidates for IIBEC’s Certified Building Enclosure Commissioning Provider (CBECxP®) credential can now complete an interactive online application process. With the expansion of IIBEC’s focus to building enclosure commissioning, the organization recognized a need in the marketplace for a CBECxP® credential. IIBEC is currently pursuing ISO/IEC 17024 accreditation for this certification through the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB).
The CBECxP® examination is currently in its final development phases to validate applicants who will be tested on the appropriate knowledge, skills, and abilities required to provide building enclosure commissioning duties. The CBECxP® exam is anticipated to be released in late 2021.
CBECxP® applicants must have at least four years of building enclosure commissioning experience. IIBEC staff in the credentialing department verify the education and work experience of applicants. Qualification of applicants to sit for the exam is based on a point system. A minimum of 100 points is required, and scoring is based on one of the following:
Applicants must have completed at least 70 hours of continuing education through attendance at a minimum of three seminars directly related to building commissioning, building enclosure consulting, or building construction sciences. Five references are also required.
Once released, the exam will be available at over 1,000 conveniently located testing centers worldwide. After submitting a completed CBECxP® application to IIBEC, applicants should allow 90 days for review and processing.
