Michael Hamilton, RRC, RRO, an IIBEC member since 1993, died March 9, 2025.

According to a published obituary, Hamilton grew up in Florida, became a Marine, and earned a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Cross of Gallantry for his service in the Vietnam War.

“Upon his honorable discharge and return to the US, he continued to have a life full of adventure—he became a firefighter, police officer with the Detroit Police Department, a homebuilder, handgun marksman, and a rancher who raised quarter horses (just to name a few), all before the age of 40,” the obituary states. “After that, he settled into a life of entrepreneurship, building a successful career and expertise in commercial roofing, serving the largest school districts in the greater Houston area and beyond. He and his business, MHI Roof Consultants, won numerous awards and honors over the years, and was sought out to provide services to FEMA in the wake of natural disasters.

“Eventually, he settled back in Texas completely, and built his retirement ‘ranch’ in Nacogdoches, Texas. This was his final building project.”

Hamilton earned his Registered Roof Observer (RRO®) certification in 1996 and his Registered Roof Consultant (RRC®) certification in 1997. A member of the IIBEC Gulf Coast Chapter, Hamilton also served on the Region IV Nominating Committee and was a supporter of the RCI-IIBEC Foundation.

The obituary states that Hamilton is survived by his wife, Sue; daughters Lacie Hamilton and Robin Moran; grandchildren Austin Mahone, Logan, and Rylie Moran; brother Wade Hamilton; cousin Willie Hamilton; various nieces, nephews, and cousins; “and his faithful dog, Maxx.”
