Michael V. Mathers, RRC, an IIBEC member for more than three decades, died August 5, 2024.
Mathers joined IIBEC in December of 1988. During his time with the organization, he attended numerous IIBEC annual convention and trade shows, and he served as president of the IIBEC Great Lakes Chapter. He received his Registered Roof Consultant (RRC®) certification in 1990.
Mathers was founder and president of Roofing Technology Associates (RTA) in Livonia, Michigan, and he worked there until retiring in 2017. Mathers served on the RCI Credentials committee from 1990 to 1992.
According to an obituary submitted to IIBEC by RTA President James J. Watson, RRC, Mathers was born April 26, 1948, in Moline, Illinois, and he moved to Michigan during his high school years. He earned a bachelor of science in architecture from Lawrence Institute of Technology and was a frequent participant in education seminars on roofing technology before schools, contractors, architects, and industry and government agencies.
Mathers is survived by his wife, Annette L. Mathers; his children Melanie and Matthew; his sister Cindy and brother Jeff; and his four grandchildren.
