Julie McDonald

Julie McDonald is a Senior Building Envelope Consultant with Bodis Group, Inc., in Denver, Colorado. Her technical services include but are not limited to building envelope and roof consulting, quality assurance, and testing services such as waterproofing, air barrier glazing assemblies, veneer systems, and roof assemblies for new and existing buildings.
Julie specializes in third-party building envelope plan review, developing retrofit flashing and closure solutions for existing buildings, and performing water and air infiltration testing, as well as other enclosure performance testing. Julie is a Registered Exterior Wall Consultant (REWC) and has a master’s degree in Construction Management from Purdue University. She is presently the chair of the IIBEC Emerging Professional Committee. She especially welcomes opportunities to mentor young professionals in the building envelope industry.

Patrick Reiche

Patrick Reicher is a Principal with Raths, Raths & Johnson, Inc. Reicher is a licensed structural engineer in the State of Illinois with considerable experience in forensic investigation, evaluation, and repair design of existing building enclosures, as well as building enclosure consulting and commissioning for new construction projects.
Reicher is also a Registered Exterior Wall Consultant (REWC), Registered Exterior Wall Observer (REWO), Certified Construction Specifier (CCS), and Certified Construction Contract Administrator (CCCA). He currently serves on several committees and task forces for the International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC), the IIBEC Chicago Area Chapter (IIBEC-Chicago), the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA), and the Construction Specification Institute Chicago Chapter (CSI Chicago).

Exterior Wall Quality Assurance is a one-day course for professionals interested in performing observation to assure that exterior wall systems are installed in accordance with construction documents. The program covers diverse topics in the construction of exterior walls, and is intended for manufacturers, general contractors, quality assurance observers, and field inspectors.

Course participants will receive detailed information on the different materials and systems that may be encountered in exterior wall construction, including proper installation and a discussion of how these components interface to create a weathertight assembly. Instructors cover the fundamentals of insulation, air and water barriers, vapor retarders, and various cladding materials, including metal panels, masonry, stucco, and EIFS.

This course covers the diverse and challenging aspects of roofing, waterproofing, and exterior walls encountered in the field. Highlights of the program include the role and responsibilities of the quality observer associated with roofing, waterproofing, and exterior wall projects; contract administration; construction contract documents; ethics; and job site safety.

Jeffery Button

Jeffery L. Button is a Director at DBI Construction Consultants, LLC. He has thirty years of experience in architecture, engineering, inspection, forensic consulting, building damage evaluation, and construction project management. Mr. Button has designed and assessed projects in the United States, Canada, Bahamas, and U.A.E. including high rise, low rise, and below grade structures, commercial and residential structures, schools, office buildings, hotels, manufacturing plants, aviation facilities, warehouses, health care buildings, and laboratories. Mr. Button is a Registered Architect (RA), Registered Roof Consultant (RRC), Registered Waterproofing Consultant (RWC), and member of AIA, NCARB, and IIBEC.

Jerry Teitsma

Jerry Teitsma is IIBEC’s Education Advisor and a longtime member of the organization. As former Director of Education, Jerry has been instrumental in writing many of IIBEC’s courses on roofing topics. Jerry has a Bachelor of Science in Wood Technology and a Master’s degree in Building Construction from Michigan State. He has earned his RRC and RRO registrations from IIBEC and his Certified Construction Contract Administration from CSI. Recently, Jerry received the IIBEC Lifetime Achievement Award from IIBEC.

Rooftop Quality Assurance is a one-day course for professionals interested in performing observation to assure that roof installation is consistent with construction documents. The program covers the diverse and challenging aspects of roofing as encountered in the field and is ideal for roofing material manufacturers, general contractors, quality assurance observers, and field inspectors.

Course participants will receive objective and detailed information regarding the duties of the roof quality observer. It helps prepare individuals to provide an independent measure of quality and to assist with project communications and coordination.

Instructors cover fundamentals of quality assurance, component assembly and quality practice guidelines for a variety of roofing systems, including: role of the roof observer, construction contract documents, daily reports, low-slope roofing, spray-applied foam, steep-slope roofing, ethics and codes.

Although not a preparatory course for the Registered Roof Observer (RRO)® exam, this course provides useful information for the individual who is preparing for RRO registration.
