Wanda Edwards, RCI’s Senior Director of Technical Services, has been appointed to an international building committee and a national building coordinating council that will give RCI a vital voice at the table concerning building envelope issues.
Edwards is now a member of the International Code Council’s Structural Code Development Committee (IBC-S). The Structural Committee is responsible for hearing proposed changes to Chapters 15 through 25 and Appendices G, I, J, L, and M of the 2019 International Building Code (IBC). Hearings before the IBC-S will be held in April 2018.
She has also been appointed to the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) Coordinating Council as Vice Chair of the Consultative Council. The Council was created in 2009 to serve as a venue for NIBS’ councils and committees to share information and coordinate efforts among NIBS’ programs. This “enhances the ability to recommend areas of compatibility and coordinate efforts to improve synergy and produce outcomes that are more productive and valuable to the building community.”
