Public-Comment Period Opens for CRRC S100

Your Input Needed! Help Shape IIBEC’s Technical Advisories and Code and Standards Work

The IIBEC Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and Codes and Standards Committee (CSC) need your input. A major TAC objective is to identify building enclosure technical issues important to IIBEC membership. As you encounter topics, issues, or concerns, please notify the TAC so they may be considered for possible advisory development. Technical Advisories are developed and approved by the TAC, reviewed and approved by the IIBEC Board of Directors, and then posted to the IIBEC website for use. No topic is too large or small to be considered. Major CSC objectives are to develop IIBEC’s strategy on participation in various code- and standards-development activities, and to identify relevant building enclosure issues and concerns to be addressed by IIBEC staff and members in taking them before the appropriate code- or standards-development bodies.

Public Review of Addendum to ANSI/ASHRAE/IES Standard 90.1-2022 Aims at Zero Emission Buildings

ASHRAE on May 19, 2023, opened for public review and comment a BSR/ASHRAE/IES addendum to Standard 90.1-2022, Energy Standard for Sites and Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings. The appendix highlights needed modifications that aim to achieve zero emission requirements. ASHRAE said that jurisdictions will have flexibility in terms of their timeline for reaching the zero-emission target.

Deadlines Approaching to Join ICC Code Committees

IIBEC members who are interested in playing a greater role in the International Code Council’s (ICC’s) code development process have several opportunities available to them. A call for ICC committee participation has been issued for the 2027 cycle. Applications for the Code Development Committees (CDCs), Code Interpretation Committees (CICs), and the Code Correlation Committee (CCC) are due June 1, 2023.

ICC Governmental Members Approve IIBEC Secondary Drainage Proposals

November 21, 2022

Results of the International Code Council’s (ICC’s) online governmental consensus vote—including the passage of both of IIBEC’s code change proposals (CCPs) submitted for the 2024 International Building Code (IBC) and International Residential Code (IRC)—were posted last week. This step finalizes results from the ICC’s Public Comment Hearings in Louisville, Kentucky, where IIBEC Senior Director of Technical Services Emily Lorenz, PE, was joined by IIBEC Secretary/Treasurer Chris Dawkins, PE, in defending IIBEC’s two CCPs related to minimum slope and secondary drainage during reroofing.
