The 2025 IIBEC Building Enclosure Symposium (BES) kicked things off October 26 with the Otter-ly Fin-tastic Welcome Reception. Attendees reconnected, made new friends, and, most important, got to enjoy the shark and otter wall. Thank you to everyone who joined us and our sponsor Carlisle Architectural Metals. Your energy set the perfect tone for the days ahead!
At registration, Advanced Architectural Products provided attendees with lanyards. Building Enclosure was this year’s media sponsor.
Monday’s first day of education sessions delivered insightful presentations and thought-provoking discussions on the latest in building science and enclosure technology. Thank you to Carlisle Construction Materials, SOPREMA USA, and National Institute of Building Sciences for sponsoring each networking break and helping make these experiences possible.
Attendees also enjoyed a fantastic Exhibitor Reception sponsored by Johns Manville Commercial Roofing Systems, where we connected with 33 industry partners, explored innovative products, and shared ideas that are shaping the future of the building enclosure profession.
We then kept the fun going with a visit to the Energizer Park, hosted by the IIBEC Central States Branch (IIBEC Chicago Area Chapter (CAC), an evening full of great conversation, networking, and camaraderie.
Day Two
Our second full day of BES was packed with cutting-edge education, insightful discussions, and meaningful connections across the industry.
We began the morning with a Breakfast with Exhibitors, sponsored by Elevate US | Commercial Roofing Systems, followed by a thought-provoking general session led by Robin A. Kemper, exploring “Ethics for Today’s Building Enclosure Professional.”
Throughout the day, attendees dove into diverse technical sessions, from nonstandard water control strategies and low-slope roof design to structural design for steep-slope systems, embodied carbon facade studies, and condensation challenges in healthcare buildings. The day wrapped up with engaging case studies on collaborative enclosure rehabilitations and innovative low-carbon retrofit methods.
Thank you to our BES sponsors: Advanced Architectural Products, Building Enclosure, Carlisle, Carlisle Architectural Metals, Elevate, Johns Manville, National Institute of Building Sciences, SOPREMA, Roofing Contractor, and Walls & Ceilings.
We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to all exhibitors, speakers, moderators, and BES Committee members, including chair Jay Rodriguez, for their time, expertise, and dedication to advancing the building enclosure profession.
Save the Date: BES returns October 18–20, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana! The Call for Abstracts for next year’s program is now open. We invite you to share your knowledge and contribute to the next chapter of BES excellence. Go to https://2026bes.iibec.org.
