Cooperative Purchasing Bills on the Rise

IIBEC letter to Missouri legislatorsBy Irene Butler

This legislative cycle, IIBEC is tracking an increasing number of cooperative purchasing bills advancing rapidly through state legislatures. These proposals have the potential to significantly impact how building enclosure systems are designed, specified, and procured.

Most recently, IIBEC contacted Missouri legislators to express concerns about a bill currently under consideration. Our primary concern is that expanding cooperative purchasing to include building enclosure materials and related services could bypass critical project-specific evaluation and reduce the involvement of qualified, credentialed professionals. This shift may ultimately affect the quality, performance, and long-term reliability of building enclosure systems.

Members are encouraged to stay informed and engaged as these issues continue to evolve.
